Leoson Hoay
Tech Lead
Leoson Hoay joined Learning Collider as Tech Lead in 2026. He oversees the data science team, and supports the development of the organization’s analytics and artificial intelligence capabilities. He had previously been a part of Learning Collider as a Data Scientist between 2022 to 2024.
Originally from Singapore, Leoson spent eight years in Chicago working at the intersection of technology and social impact. At the University of Chicago Health Lab, he supported projects spanning public health and human services, including local homelessness services and the Cook County Jail and Sheriff’s Office. His work included developing privacy-preserving approaches to linking sensitive administrative data and contributing to research and evaluation of the U.S. 911 emergency response system. He was named the INFORMS Analytics Professional of the Year in 2023 for his contributions.
A passionate educator, Leoson believes in interdisciplinary learning. He is a top AI and Data Science mentor on MentorCruise, as well as a prolific aviation ground school instructor.
He walks the interdisciplinary talk in his own educational journey, holding an MS in Computer Science from Georgia Tech, an MA in Computational Social Science from the University of Chicago, and a bachelor’s degree in New Media and Psychology from the National University of Singapore.
