Sara Nadel’s resume includes titles in academia, applied research, data science, and technology. But more apt than any title is her interest in data for good and an unwavering commitment to using her own privilege to catalyze and advance social impact.

In the early part of her career, she seemed destined for academia. Her research focused on poverty alleviation in emerging markets. She lived in Peru for five years and traveled extensively across Latin America, Sub-Saharan Africa, and Southeast Asia. And across these many cultures and political economies, she observed and studied how to best hire, retain, and upskill hourly and frontline workforces - leading to economic mobility among workers.

This research led to Sara getting bit by the tech bug. She launched Farolito in Peru, a tech firm uncovering hidden talent and identifying quality candidates for jobs in Latin America. Farolito then led to the co-founding of StellarEmploy in the U.S., an AI-driven platform that improves hiring outcomes for frontline employers (and their workers).

Sara’s role at Learning Collider is two-fold. She oversees all operations, helping teams and partners problem-solve and move forward on a growing number of projects. Additionally, she continues the management of StellarEmploy, now an Impact Initiative of the lab.

Sara and her family reside in Greater New Haven where she revels in the quick access to Connecticut beaches and swimming along the coastline. At work and at home, she has the superpower ability to un-stick projects, processes, or her children’s play toys.
